Somnium: Dec 23, 2011

photo from Bear Medicine Walker
It was quarter to 4 in the morning when I was awakened by a strange dream. As I try to recall the details of which, it dawned on me... It was my brain's way of creatively putting together small details in my encounters I've had for the past few days into a mystical story.

The dream began in what appeared to be our previous house while I was still in high school. There were a lot of people in my room who were most likely my high school friends (I couldn't see people's faces very well). It became chaotic when their present boyfriends arrived.

As they try to enter my room, I was panicking... trying to find for my cherry red bra... only to find out it was hanging by the door knob.

Toilet Phobia (part 2)

I never thought I would have to write about this for the second time. Following my previous entry, I have been having diarrhea for almost 2 weeks now so I have finally decided to see a doctor. Doctor's diagnosis, amoebiasis. =(

Toilet Phobia (part 1)

photo from www.shootfirsteatlater.com
I've been looking all over for the appropriate term for fear of toilets but parcopresis seems to be the most suitable word for me.

Yesterday, I had to conquer this fear when nature called for it thrice! And the culprit was Pan de Manila's pan de ube which I had last Friday night. =(

To be continued...

I'm sorry I broke your arm... err... claw

Dumaluan Beach Resort - Panglao, Bohol, Philippines
The idea of bringing home a wet swimsuit came in while having breakfast by the beach. I can't resist it... I need to take a dip and savour the white sand beach of Panglao 5 hours before my flight back to Manila.

'The Pacific' Views

Having seen HBO's 10-part mini series 'The Pacific' made my thoughts wonder & wander.

Jon Seda as John Basilo
I initially refused to watch it as I'm not into violence and bloodbath. But I eventually watched it having heard  from a friend as she teasingly described the docu-drama TV show without spoiling the plot. She told me how frequent the Philippines was mentioned all throughout the story. Indeed, it was a good way to understand and appreciate the history of World War II.

Separated at Birth: Madonna + Mad Hatter + Elijah Wood

After seeing Mad Hatter (played by Johnny Depp) in the film Alice in Wonderland, it got me thinking... Why does he look so familiar?
must be the eyes & the teeth gap

Ewan McGregor for Best Act-ress!

Yes, you read it right. After watching this true-to-life gay love story, Ewan McGregor deserves the Best Actress award.

The scene where Phillip Morris (McGregor) learned that his lover Steven Russell (Jim Carrey) just died... really made me cry.

McGregor can actually slap like a fine lady! :-D

It is just amazing what a guy can do in the name of love. Ooops! Let me repeat that.
It is just amazing what a gay guy can do in the name of love. In the case of Russell, he tried to escape from prison (with his totally outrageous con man acts) just to be with his fellow prisoner and lover Morris.

All together (McGregor's acting + the plot), made me love 'I Love You Phillip Morris'.

Separated at Birth: Roberts + Potter

I've been trying to recall a romantic-comedy film where I saw this Julia Roberts' look alike. With just simple keywords, I stumbled upon Monica Potter starring the movie Head Over Heels.

See the resemblance? (minus the wide lips) =) hehe...

Now Playing: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

I already forget how I used to feel about you.
RATING: 5/5
CATEGORY: Romantic Drama-Comedy

I liked this film the 1st time I saw it. The 2nd time, I fully understood it. The 3rd time, I fell in love with it.

Too much conversation in films bores me but this film which won the 2005 Oscar Award in Best Writing [Charlie Kaufman, Michel Gondry & Pierre Bismuth] nailed my taste with a good combination of serious-comic dialogues and dizzying flashback scenes that will somehow mess your mind.

Indeed, the story is about the mind and how powerful love is. I wouldn't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen the film so I won't discuss the plot here.

Other than the plot, I love the script and one of the songs in the soundtrack (Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometimes by Beck). As an avid Jim Carrey fan, this is one of his noteworthy serious portrayals to date.

Below are some of the lines which struck me most, courtesy of IMDb:

Separated at Birth: Thick + Dane

Eric Dane a.k.a McSteamy plays the role of Dr. Mark Sloan in Grey's Anatomy
American Grammy Awardee, Robin Thicke launched his Sex Therapy album last December 2009

Now Playing: Migraine + Sex Therapy

Inspired by my recent migraine attack... I stumbled upon Moonstar 88's Migraine.

Next in the list is my recent LSS, Robin Thicke's Sex Therapy. A must add to your sexy-time playlist.

On a funny note, my friend told me that this song seems familiar to her...like it was some sort of a revival. She hummed as I try to figure out the lyrics... Watch the 1st video and the next. You'd be surprised how similar the lyrics and melody were.
